Our Team
Veterinarian
Andrea Lerner, VMD


Dr. Lerner grew up on Long Island, NY. She earned her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1988 and has been devoted to delivering excellent care for cats ever since. In November 1999, Dr. Lerner and her husband Lee founded for Cats, which became Delaware County's first veterinary practice exclusively for felines.
Dr. Lerner is dedicated to all facets of feline medicine, with a special interest in dentistry, internal medicine, and providing compassionate end-of-life support for pets and their families. Outside of work, she enjoys growing indoor plants and learning about different energy and integrative modalities. But most of all she enjoys spending time with her family including her 3 cats, Tony, Merlin, and Lucy [pictured].
Veterinary Technician
Our Veterinary Technician is highly qualified and licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. They have graduated from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program and passed the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE). This enables them to perform advanced nursing skills and tasks independently, ensuring professional care of our patients.
Sandra, LBSW, CVT
Certified Veterinary Technician

Introducing Sandra, our lead technician who has been a part of Just for Cats since April 2006. Sandra holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Widener University and an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology from Penn Foster. She is currently pursuing a post-grad certification in Veterinary Social Work from the University of Tennessee.
She is passionate about client education, the human-animal bond, nutrition, and reducing stress during veterinary visits. Sandra is a certified Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional and has achieved the highest level of Fear Free education as an Elite member, showcasing her commitment to providing the best care for our patients. She is also Human-Animal Bond certified and has experience facilitating pet loss and grief support groups.
When not at work, Sandra enjoys trying new arts and crafts and spending time with her two cats, Déjà Vu (pictured) and Stitch Jr.
Support Staff
Naimah
Assistant

Naimah is our Veterinary Assistant who joined Just for Cats spring of 2025. She is currently a veterinary technician student at Penn Foster. Naimah has experience volunteering with Forgotten Cats, providing spay/neuter preparation, and general cat care. At our hospital, she helps keep things running smoothly both behind the scenes and in the exam rooms. She assists with patient handling and care, running laboratory tests, drawing up vaccines, taking medical histories, and monitoring anesthesia. Always ready to lend a hand, she supports the veterinarians and technicians wherever she is needed. Her favorite part of the job is making sure every visit is a positive, loving, and memorable experience for both kitties and their owners.
Outside of work, Naimah loves expressing her creativity through fashion and sewing, and spending time in nature.
She enjoys caring for Onyx her Rottweiler at home and her various extended animal family members including Umbra the kitty [pictured], Steph the bunny and a bearded dragon.

Ja-Yonna
Jr. Assistant
Meet Ja-Yonna, she is currently away at school pursuing a degree in Veterinary Technology. Her favorite part of the job is assisting with Dr. L or Sandra with exams and treatments on patients. She also loves to feed Churu to the cats.
When not working Ja-Yonna enjoys binge watching her favorite shows, playing her Nintendo switch, and spending time with her family
Ja-Yonna has 2 kitties- Minnie and Ladybug and a pup Luigi whom she adores very much!
